Bart is a big, beautiful boy. He has already done extremely well in the show ring. As a weanling he was in 5 Halter (judged on conformation) futurities winning two of them - including being "Best Of Show" - and placing in the other 3. He was also in 2 Weanling Round Pen (judged on movement) futurities that had 17 or 18 entries and he won both of them. As a yearling he was entered in both Halter and Longe-Line futurities and he either won or placed in nearly all of them. This year we sent him out for training at the end of May to get him ready for the August/September Pleasure futurities and with less than 90 days he won 2 of them and placed in all the others except the one at which I showed him...it was only the second time I had ridden him and I only ride a couple times a year...so it wasn't his fault. He had already beaten all of the other 7 horses at previous futurities. This tells you how naturally talented Bart is because the majority of the other 2-year-olds he was showing against had 5 or 6 or more months of training prior to the futurities and he was beating them. He has a flat, slow, sweepy, soft way of moving with a natural head and neck set.
Bart knows everything about showing: bathing, clipping, loading, hauling, shoeing, etc. He knows about being a pasture horse -which he is right now - as well as being a stall horse - which he likes. I believe Bart is 15.3 at the hip right now so I know he should be 15.3 hands and may even get a little taller than that. Bart has never been injured nor has he had any serious illnesses. He gets along very well with other horses, although he tends to irritate my broodmares because he tries to encourage them to play with him and they don't appreciate that.
As far as Bart's personality...I really enjoy him. He is playful, friendly and quite intelligent and so he is curious and "busy" checking things out, however, he tends to be on the lazy side...which is a good thing for a pleasure horse. He has two greatest "loves" and those are attention from people and food. I have never been afraid of Bart nor has he ever been mean. Although we don't have children I know the trainer has a toddler and she never mentioned there was a problem with having her daughter around Bart. If there was one thing "bad" I could say about Bart it would be that he still needs to learn patience, but I have to remember he is only 2 years old.
I know Bart will have a successful show career and the wonderful thing about him is that he should be able to do almost anything and do it well. He has already proven himself in Halter and Western Pleasure and the way he moves he may even be a better Hunt Seat horse. He should be able to drive, jump, game, rein, work cattle, etc. and do well in all of them. He could truly be a versatile horse. Enrolled in the Breeder's Trust.
